This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit royalstaropera.com (the “Site”), operated by The Royal Star Opera of New York (“we”, “us”). We have designed the Site to collect as little personal data as possible, and we never sell your information.

The short version

• You can browse and read the Site without creating an account or giving us any personal details.
• We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information — ever.
• Some pages embed third-party players (such as YouTube or Spotify) and use Google Fonts; these third parties may set their own cookies and receive your IP address.
• If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in your message. We use this solely to respond to you and, where relevant, to keep a record of the correspondence.

Information collected automatically

Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the date and time. These server logs are used to keep the Site secure and running, and are not used to identify you personally.

Cookies

The Site does not set advertising cookies. It uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure aggregate usage (see “Analytics” below). WordPress, the software that runs the Site, may set strictly necessary cookies if you interact with certain features, and third-party content embedded on some pages (see below) may set its own cookies. Third-party services

To bring you the operas and a polished experience, some pages rely on third parties whose own privacy policies apply:

• Video and audio players (e.g. YouTube, Spotify, or other podcast platforms) embedded so you can watch or listen. When such a player loads, that provider may receive your IP address and set cookies.
• Google Analytics, used to measure aggregate Site usage (see “Analytics” below).
• Google Fonts, used for the Site’s typography, which may involve a request to Google’s servers.
• Our hosting provider, which processes server logs as described above.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate — for example, which pages are popular and how people find us. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view. This information is processed by Google; we use it only in aggregate to improve the Site, and never to identify you personally. We do not run advertising or sell any data.

You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser. Google’s handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to its processing. Data retention & security

We keep email correspondence only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for reasonable record-keeping. We take sensible measures to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
